Terms Entered in Search Tools
A name, location, or other term entered into a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. Jackson County Released Inmates does not store or log those query terms on its own systems. The provider's policy governs its handling of the request.
Emails and Other Messages
If a visitor sends an email or contact-form message, the message and reply details may be retained long enough to answer and manage the exchange. We do not share those messages outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Standard server, analytics, and advertising systems may record basic technical details when a page loads. That information can include:
- the internet protocol address used for the request;
- the browser name and version;
- the device class and operating system;
- pages viewed and time spent on them;
- the referring page or site, when supplied; and
- the date and time of each request.
Cookies and Browser Controls
Cookies help show how people move through the site and may support analytics or advertising. A visitor can block or delete cookies through browser settings. Some functions may work differently when cookies are disabled.
Reasons We Use Data
Collected information is used only for operating, understanding, and maintaining the site and its connected services.

- Send a search request to the selected partner service.

- Find errors, abuse, and performance problems.
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests.
Privacy Beyond This Domain
Links lead to WVDCR records, court and government portals, federal custody tools, and independent search services. Once a visitor follows one of those links, the destination's privacy policy and practices apply.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to recognize activity across more than one site and select interest-based ads. That tracking takes place under the provider's controls, not as a local Jackson County Released Inmates record.
When Data May Be Shared
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be available to the following parties when needed for their role:
- search partners that process a visitor's query;
- analytics providers that measure site use;
- advertising networks that deliver or measure ads; and
- law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.
Reasonable Security Measures
We use standard safeguards suited to a public website. No internet service, transmission method, or storage system is fully secure, however. This notice does not promise that a breach or unauthorized access can never occur.
Visitors Younger Than Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under eighteen. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted personal information may use the Get in Touch page to request deletion.

Depending on applicable law and the data involved, a visitor may ask us to:
- provide a copy of personal data held;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- delete data that is eligible for erasure; or
- stop certain forms of processing when an opt-out right applies.
